5 Star Doctors

As we all know by now, CMS rates Medicare Advantage plans on a 1 to 5-Star scale, with 5 Stars representing the highest quality. This 5-Star rating system applies to our CareMore Medical Group physicians, too.

We are pleased to let you know that 7 of CareMore Medical Group's Primary Care Physicians achieved a 5 Star rating for their 2012 Part D Stars results. In alphabetical order, they are:

* Dr. Rossini is a 5 Star doctor for the 2nd year in a row!

How did they do it? By helping their Members adhere to the following criteria:

• Medication Adherence - Members with a prescription for oral diabetes, cholesterol, or blood pressure medication must fill their prescription often enough to cover 80% or more of the time they are supposed to be taking the medication;
• Diabetes Treatment - Diabetic Members with hypertension must use the type of blood pressure medication that is recommended for people with diabetes;
• Drugs to Avoid in the Elderly - Members who are 65 and older must avoid certain drugs that have a high risk of serious side effects.

The goal of these Part D Stars criteria is to improve Members' clinical outcomes and safety so that they can live healthier, active, independent lives. We congratulate our CareMore Medical Group 5 Star physicians and the office staff who support them. Well done!
